Window Replacement Cost Calculator

Calculate window replacement cost from your own quotes. Group windows by quantity and purchase price, add separate installation labor, and total entered costs in US dollars (USD) or Canadian dollars (CAD). No market prices are estimated.

Your window quotes

1 group

Country and quote currency

Your quotes must be in USD. Changing country clears all quoted amounts and resets optional fees; it does not convert money.

Quote-only inputs. Enter a net purchase price per window, not an all-inclusive contractor project total. Installation labor is optional; blank means unknown, while 0 means confirmed no additional labor charge. No price is filled in automatically.

Window group 1

Whole number, 1–200 per group; maximum 200 across all groups.

Product-only net price; enter 0 if confirmed free.

Must be a separate per-window net labor quote; do not include a bundled material price again.

🧾 Optional fees, taxes and reserve

These fields start blank. Unprovided costs stay unprovided; only an explicit 0 represents a confirmed zero.

Multiplied by all windows. Leave blank if no quote is available; enter 0 only for a confirmed zero charge.

Enter once for the entire project, not once per window.

Enter once if the amount is known; local requirements vary.

Enter once for the entire project.

Optional rate you supply, 0–30%. The calculator does not determine applicable taxes.

A positive rate without a scope does not calculate tax.

Optional planning reserve, 0–50%, applied to direct costs before tax.

All prices and percentages must be plain numbers. Currency amounts: up to 2 decimals. Percentages: up to 4 decimals. Only entered prices are included.

Quote breakdown

Your itemized costs will appear here

Enter the window quantity and purchase price, then calculate. A missing labor quote leads to a partial known-cost summary—not a fabricated total.

Window replacement cost calculator disclaimer: For educational project budgeting only. Calculations use only costs, tax rates and contingency rates that you explicitly enter; there are no market price estimates, automatic labor assumptions or currency conversions. A COMPLETE result only confirms that every group has product and installation prices, not that repairs, permits, disposal, delivery, taxes or other real costs are included. A PARTIAL result is known costs only, not a final budget. Review written contractor quotes, tax treatment, installation details and any exclusions before making decisions.

When to use this calculator

Use this window replacement quote calculator to organize product purchase prices and separate installation bids into a window replacement cost breakdown. Blank labor stays unknown; the result covers only the costs you enter.

How the quote calculator works

Material total = group quantity × quoted window unit price. Labor total = group quantity × quoted installation labor per window, only when supplied. Removal / disposal = total window quantity × entered disposal cost per window.

Direct costs = known materials + known labor + entered direct extras. Repairs, permits and delivery are added once per project. Unprovided fees remain excluded, not confirmed zero.

Tax = selected taxable base × entered tax rate / 100. Choose none, materials only, materials plus quoted labor, or all entered direct costs. A positive rate without a selected scope leaves tax uncalculated.

Contingency = direct subtotal × entered contingency rate / 100. This reserve excludes tax and is not itself taxed. With complete window and labor quotes, the total based on entered costs adds direct subtotal, calculated tax and calculated contingency.

Blank labor produces a PARTIAL known-cost summary with no tax, contingency or final total. Explicit 0 is known labor; COMPLETE means all groups have purchase and labor prices, not that every actual expense is covered. The existing calculation engine validates exact-cent inputs and percentages of up to four decimal places, rounding tax and contingency independently half-up to cents; this page displays its results.

Worked example: five windows

These are illustrative user-entered quotes, not market reference prices: five US windows at $350 purchase per window and $180 installation per window, plus $30 disposal per window.

Materials: 5 × $350 = $1,750. Labor: 5 × $180 = $900. Disposal: 5 × $30 = $150. Direct costs: $2,800. An entered 8% tax on materials and labor gives $212; a 10% contingency on direct costs gives $280. Total based on entered costs: $3,292.

Entered direct costs

$2,800.00

Entered tax + reserve

$492.00

Total based on entered costs

$3,292.00

With the labor field blank, the same entry becomes a PARTIAL result: known direct costs $1,900, with no tax, reserve or final total displayed. If labor is explicitly 0, the result can be COMPLETE, but still covers entered costs only.

What to check before using a quote

Confirm that purchase and installation labor are separate, net prices per window. Ask about removal, disposal, trim and weatherproofing, opening repairs, permits, delivery, glazing specifications, site access, warranties and excluded work.

The calculator does not price window dimensions or materials for you, and does not handle bundled bids, exchange rates, structural alterations, hazardous-material work, incentives, financing or compliance with local construction and tax rules. Enter externally verified information rather than treating missing costs as free.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate window replacement cost?

Group windows with the same quoted prices, then multiply each group's quantity by its purchase price and known installation labor per window. Add entered disposal and project fees, then any configured tax and contingency. The result covers your inputs only; it is not an average market price.

How do I include installation labor cost per window?

For each group, use a window-only net purchase price per unit and a separate net installation-labor price per unit. If a contractor gives one bundled price, ask for a breakdown rather than entering the entire bundle as materials.

What happens if I do not know labor costs?

Leave labor blank. The page shows known costs only, identifies which window groups lack labor quotes, and withholds tax, contingency and a final total. Blank labor is not treated as $0. Enter 0 only for a confirmed zero charge; a deliberate zero purchase price is also allowed.

Can I calculate the cost to replace 10 windows?

Yes. Enter a quantity of 10 with your own purchase and installation prices if all ten share those unit quotes. Use separate groups when prices differ. Add any known project fees; the calculator does not supply a market price for replacing ten windows.

Can I use this window replacement cost calculator in Canada?

Yes. Select Canada before entering CAD quotes, or the United States for USD quotes. Changing the region clears all previous quotes and fees. Prices are never converted or silently relabeled.

How are tax and contingency calculated?

When all installation prices are known, tax is calculated from your rate and explicitly selected taxable scope. Contingency is calculated separately on direct costs before tax. Both are rounded independently to cents.

Are removal, permits, repairs and delivery included?

Only the amounts you actually enter are included. Removal and disposal are quoted per window; repairs, permits and delivery are project totals entered once. Unfilled items remain marked Not provided, not free. Complete window-and-labor quotes can still omit real project expenses.

Does a complete result guarantee my final contractor cost?

No. Complete means every group has an entered product and installation price, including explicitly confirmed zeros. The total is only based on entered costs. Verify exclusions, measurements, applicable taxes and written bids with a professional.
