Wall Area: 2 × (Length + Width) × Wall Height
Ceiling Area: Length × Width, if ceiling is included
Net Drywall Area: Wall Area + Ceiling Area − Door and Window Deduction
Area With Waste: Net Drywall Area × (1 + Waste Percentage ÷ 100)
Sheets Needed: Area With Waste ÷ Sheet Area, rounded up

Decide whether to include the ceiling
Include the ceiling for full-room drywall projects. Choose Walls Only if you are only covering the vertical wall surfaces.
Add waste for cuts and seams
Use about 10% for many drywall jobs. More complex room shapes, corners, closets, and layout cuts may need additional waste.
Review sheets and USD material cost
Drywall sheets are rounded up to whole boards. Estimated cost is based on sheets needed multiplied by your price per sheet in USD.

Yes. Doors and windows reduce the drywall area needed. This calculator subtracts standard estimated areas before adding waste.
