A 10 ft × 10 ft room covers 100 sq ft. With 12 × 12 in tiles, the base requirement is 100 tiles. A 10% waste allowance increases the estimate to 110 tiles. With 12 tiles per box, the calculator returns 10 full boxes, or 120 purchased tiles, leaving 10 tiles beyond the calculated requirement.

It depends on the tile dimensions. A 12 × 12 in tile covers approximately 1 sq ft, so the basic estimate is one tile per square foot before waste.
How many 12 × 12 tiles do I need for 100 square feet?
The base requirement is 100 tiles. With a 10% waste allowance, the estimate becomes 110 tiles. The box quantity depends on the tiles supplied per box.
How many boxes of tile do I need?
Divide the total tiles needed, including waste, by the tiles in each box and round up. If you need 103 tiles and each box contains 12, you need 9 full boxes.
How much extra tile should I buy for waste?
