π How It Works
This trip cost split calculator divides shared travel expenses as evenly as possible across a group using whole cents. Enter the main trip cost, add any extra shared expenses, and enter the number of people to calculate each person's share.
Select US for USD or Canada for CAD. The calculator does not convert currencies, so all expenses must be entered in the selected currency.
Final Trip Total = Total Trip Cost + Extra Costs
Cost Per Person = Final Trip Total Γ· Number of People
When the total cannot be divided evenly in cents, the calculator assigns the remaining cents to some travelers so the collected shares equal the final total exactly.
The result is designed for expenses that everyone agrees to divide equally. It does not automatically calculate individual reimbursements when different travelers have already paid different amounts.

β FAQ
π‘ How do I split trip costs with friends?
Add the shared travel expenses, enter the number of people, and divide the total evenly. This calculator performs the calculation automatically and shows the cost per person.
π Can I include Airbnb and hotel costs?
Yes. You can include Airbnb rentals, hotel rooms, cabins, resort fees, cleaning fees, and other shared accommodation costs.
π Can I split gas, tolls, and parking?
Yes. Gas, tolls, parking, rental cars, and other shared transportation expenses can be included in the trip cost.
π½οΈ Can I use this for food and restaurant costs?
Yes. You can include groceries, restaurant bills, snacks, and shared meals when the group agrees to split them evenly.
π₯ What if people already paid different amounts?
This calculator only shows an equal share of the total. If travelers already paid different amounts, compare each person's payment with the equal-share result to work out the remaining reimbursements.
π Can I use another currency?
Select US for USD or Canada for CAD. All entered expenses must use the selected currency. Switching regions clears the entered amounts and does not perform exchange-rate conversion.
πͺ What if the total cannot be divided evenly in cents?
The calculator divides the total using whole cents. When necessary, some people pay one cent more than the others so all collected shares add up exactly to the final trip total.
